Plastindia Foundation (PIF), the apex body of the Indian plastics industry, announced the launch of Plastindia 2015 at a grand ceremony held at the luxurious Hotel Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on January 29, 2014.

The 9^th edition of Plastindia, the flagship event of the Indian plastics industry, will be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from February 5–10, 2015. The Plastindia exhibition is held in India every three years and has had an enviable track record ever since the first edition of the exhibition in 1990. The Plastindia Foundation is also amply supported by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, a part of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India.

Shri Avinash Joshi, Joint Secretary-Petrochemicals Division of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, was invited as the Chief Guest at the launch event. Other prominent members on the dais included PIF President Shri Subhash Kadakia, Vice President Shri Rajeev Chitalia, Hon. Treasurer Shri Rajiv Raval, Chairman NEC Shri J R Shah and Co-Chairman Shri L K Singh.

Plastindia 2015 will be accompanied by several other events and activities such as the 4th edition of PROPLAST, a special display of plastic end-products that will cover more than 5,000 sq. meters of the exhibition space, the 6th edition of Plasticon Awards that acknowledge excellence in various segments of the industry and a 2-day international conference on contemporary subjects.

The exhibition is expected to attract more than 150,000 visitors and 2000 participants from over 40 countries and is touted to be bigger, better and more exciting than the previous editions. Plastindia 2015 with its tagline 'Expanding Horizons,' is anticipated to introduce India, the third largest polymer-consuming country in the world, as the world's biggest future market for plastics and highlight the evolution, development and growth opportunities in the country. As Shri Kadakia said, Plastindia is an endeavor to bring India to the world and the world to India.
